Dandelion Seed Counselling: Health & Wellness Brand Identity
2 min read
A gentle, nature-inspired brand identity for a Vancouver Island counselling practice, designed to feel warm and approachable from the first point of contact.
The Brief
Jody Tkach was launching Dandelion Seed Counselling, a private counselling practice on Vancouver Island. She needed a brand identity that communicated warmth, growth, and the gentle nature of the therapeutic process, without clinical coldness or overly literal mental health imagery.
The brand had to feel approachable and calming, reflecting the safe space Jody creates for her clients. It needed to work across business cards, stationery, a future website, and the kind of printed materials a client might see in a waiting room.
The Approach
The concept drew from the dandelion seed: a single floating seed carried by the wind, symbolizing new beginnings, resilience, and the lightness that comes from letting go. The mark is rendered with fine, delicate linework in soft green and warm brown tones, creating an illustration that feels hand-drawn rather than corporate.
The logotype uses a flowing script for “Dandelion Seed Counselling” paired with a clean sans-serif for “by Jody Tkach,” balancing personality with professionalism. The dandelion seed floats above the text, giving the composition a sense of upward movement and hope.
A full stationery suite was developed (letterhead, envelopes, notepads, and business cards), all using a clean white stock with a green accent edge that ties the system together. The result is a set of materials that feel calm and considered, exactly the tone a counselling practice needs.
The Result
The Dandelion Seed identity gives Jody’s practice a professional presence that feels personal rather than institutional. The floating seed mark is memorable without being heavy-handed, and the green-and-white stationery system creates a cohesive, calming first impression across every client touchpoint.
It’s the kind of brand that does its job quietly, putting clients at ease before the first conversation even begins.
